Some of the things you need to start Irish dancing can be obtained second-hand. Have a look and see if we have what you need. If you have something to sell, email the details to us and advertise here, free of charge. Send pictures if you have them -- preferably by email, but by post or by hand is fine. We also have a 'wanted' section -- check it out before sending us your ad -- somebody may already need what you want to sell!

Incidentally, for those who are not familiar with them, ono means 'or near(est) offer', ovno means 'or very near offer' and 'obo' means 'or best offer'.

Fraud Warning

Please read these important notes before buying and/or selling.

Advertisers are still being occasionally emailed about dresses for sale, offering to pay far more than the asking price, with the balance to be passed on to a third party in the seller's country. These messages are usually written in very poor English, and often include 'generalised' phrases in brackets. The buyer is usually extremely relaxed about sizes, etc., and is always in a hurry to do a deal. An typical sentence is:

"So she said i should ask you to send me your contact details ( FULL NAMES AND ADDRESS ) so i can send it to my client for him to start preparing the and address it to you cos she said the cheque should be addressed in your name as the man incharge of the transaction."

The 'buyer' will often say that he will get the goods picked up by his shipper, or a friend/colleague. If you ask questions about their dancer's dance school, career, competition results, etc., they usually become evasive, sometimes abusive, and eventually run a mile.

Our advice is to ask some pertinent questions that a genuine buyer would know the answers to. If you aren't satisified, stop responding and pass printed copies of the emails to your local police. They may not do anything about your particular case, but should pass the details to the department that collates information on such matters.

Stolen Costumes

Costume theft is despicable, but it does happen. Apart from the cost, dancers often have to stop dancing until the costume is replaced, and can miss major competitions. In addition, if you inadvertently buy a stolen costume, it does not legally belong to you even if you bought it in good faith. You stand to lose the costume to the real owner, along with whatever money you paid for it.

A bit of common sense and co-operation can make it much more difficult for the thieves. Buyers, please satisfy yourself in whatever way you can that the vendor has the right to sell. Sellers, don't be offended if you are asked for evidence that a dress is yours, especially if the costume is relatively new or highly-priced.

Only slight make up marks on the inside of dress, none on the outside. Dress is red and white with pink 3d flowers on and over 100 Swarowski crystals on (red and ab). Made by Gavin Doherty in May 07. Includes red and white stripy pants and backing for tiara.

Beautiful Siopa Rince dress made of a yellow silk covered by an orange overlay that has a faint rose motif. The dress is scattered with crystals and features a leaf design in silver glitterball, pink, and orange - all outlined in black. Pleats are a silver glitterball. Underskirt is a metallic orange-gold with a star design. The dress was made in late 2005. It has been let out at the bust and shoulders. There is some wear to the edges of the underskirt, and the inside cuffs of the sleeves. Has been stored flat in a non-smoking home. Comes with crown, bloomers, and extra silver sequins. Beautiful 2 piece Irish dance dress. Skirt: modern 4 panel style made from gorgeous red satin covered with red glitter. White satin flowers backed with orange and small red flowers stuck on. Top is the same red material with orange organza covered with orange sequins backed onto orange satin. Silver sequin appliqué also on skirt and top. Top detaches for quick cool-downs! Underskirt is an unusual black and white pattern covered with silver dots - it can be seen in between the pleats of the skirt. Matching pants and flower headband included. Worn for just one year, very sad to see it go but doesn't quite fit any more. Some make up marks on inside neck but these have been mostly cleaned. Aired after every wear. Soft shawl in the same orange material as the top of the dress has been slightly repaired in a corner. Plenty of other pictures available - any questions, please ask.

White and silver sleeves with tie dye effect fading purple netting swirls adorned with hundreds of aurora purple, silver, blue and silver stones for a fabulous sparkle. The underskirt is the same white and silver swirl as on the sleeves. The white on the dress is overlaid with fine netted material with a sweet simple floral design embroidered onto it. In between the panels are flowers with bead work and the plid is the same design as the sleeves, again adorned with hundred of stones. All of the panels are individual pieces so the dress will move easily while dancing, with no thigh bruising. The underskirt is made up of two layers of cream, sparkle organza and the individual panels have been tacked down to the skirt so they won?t fly up while dancing. The main fabric is a sparkle, periwinkle satin with cream sparkle satin, and cream lace as accent fabrics. The corset style bodice is trimmed with pearls and mother of pearl sequins and the neck is circled with Swarovski aurora borealis crystals. There are Swarovski crystals scattered throughout the dress and the dress really catches the light. There is an inch of let-out room in the sides of both the under-bodice and the bodice jacket and the skirt and under-bodice have an inch of let down as well. The skirt and bodice lining are made of a soft cotton watercolor print and the under-bodice is made of sturdy turquoise cotton. The soft cape is a current, draped, one shoulder style made of the periwinkle satin with an overlay of the cream lace. A padded headband and bloomers are included in the price.
